Legacy

At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. Typically, when notified of his selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement.

It is difficult to summarise the impact Martin Luther King had on the civil rights movement.  He is known worldwide and respected even today for his work and dedication to the cause.

Throughout his life, Dr. King had a deep faith in what people working together could accomplish for themselves and for their nation.  He valued the need for education and this is continued today, as many educational establishments honour this great man.
